Our Range of Energy & Recovery Nutrition For Sale
Our range of recovery and energy nutrition products at 99 Bikes is a crucial part of any cyclist or athlete’s life, fuelling you to perform at your best. It is important that you have the optimum nutrition plan to ensure that you’re getting the most out of every ride. You can fuel your ride with carbohydrates and or caffeine from a source such as gels, energy bars, energy or sports drinks. After training, you can recover with a mix of protein, carbohydrates and electrolytes from a range of our recovery supplements and the best cycling nutrition products at 99 Bikes.
Energy Nutrition
While you’re out riding your body relies a lot on carbohydrates as a fuel source, particularly on long rides when you will need to refuel throughout the ride to avoid hitting the wall. As a result, you should aim for 30-60g of carbohydrate per hour. You should start carbohydrate intake early in the training session to avoid low stores later in the ride. Energy gels are perfect for cycling as they are easy to store in your pockets and often pack up to 30g of carbs. You can typically obtain 50g of carbohydrate from:
- 800-100mL Sports Drink from Endura or Skratch Labs
- 2 Energy Gels such as the renowned SIS Gels, Clif Energy Gels and GU Energy Gels
- 2 cereal or Sports Bars from Clif or Endura
At 99 Bikes we also have products such as Clif Bars and a range of Gels that are a carbohydrate source in combination with caffeine so that you get that extra boost on the bike.
Hydration Nutrition
It is important to stay hydrated while you’re on the bike so that you can perform at you best and enjoy your ride. While water is sufficient for shorter rides, for optimal recovery and performance you should hydrate and refuel with electrolytes and carbohydrates from hydration drinks and powders, hydration tablets or sports drinks.
Sports Supplements
When it comes to sports supplements, protein is one of the best sports supplements around as its recovery benefits are supported in research across the world, it is affordable and is easy to source and use. While most people get a healthy dose of protein from meat, fish, eggs and dairy, protein powder and protein bars are easy and convenient ways to get that hit of protein straight after training.
Portable Nutrition
Part of the training diet will be consumed on the bike so must be easy to carry, consume one the go and not spoil out of the refrigerator (e.g. bananas, muesli/sports bars, sports gels, sports drinks).
