Leo Sanchez Berbesi

Name: Leo Sanchez Berbesi
Role: Mechanic & Sales Consultant
Experience: My passion for bikes started it several years ago and this one lead me to 99 bikes Maribyrnong as a mechanic / sales consultant. I used to own a lifestyle clothing, bicycle parts and accessories store in Colombia emphasised on customisation of fixed and single speed bikes. I love being a bike commuter and fix urban bikes as well. More recent road cycling has all my attention and I consider myself an enthusiast road rider. I like and feel comfortable working in any kind of bikes. Road, MTB, commuter, gravel, cyclocross. It is wheels, it is pavement, road, off road and adventure.
Expertise: Road bikes, commuters, vintage, fixed and single speed.
What do you love about bikes?: It is love for fresh air, freedom and devotion for the most beautiful sport in the world and in the end, a way of life.
Current Bikes: A customised single speed / fixed gear.
Favourite Ride: The summit of “La Cuchilla” (The razorblade) just 58 km away from Bogota. The climb is stunning and high, topping out at around 3,400m / 11,150ft. About 12km at around 6.1% (680 m of climbing in total).

Dave Waal

Name: Dave Waal
Role: Mechanic
Experience: After working in sales and marketing for the past nine years, I've decided to follow my passion in health and fitness and enrolled in a degree in Exercise and Sport Science. Starting out as a humble paper boy, I've always enjoyed riding bikes so it made sense to utilise my work experience and take my interest in them to the next level at 99 Bikes.
What do you love about bikes?: Being fitness and technically minded, I love that a bike offers an opportunity to build fitness with consistency over time and acts as a channel for personal growth regardless of how seriously you take it!
Current Bike: Giant Trinity Advanced Pro 1.
Favourite Ride: I'm a creature of habit, I stick to my local cycling tracks Yarra & Kew boulevards. For my longer rides, I venture out and jump on beach road at Kerford Road (and depending on the session) turn as far as down as Dromana.

I now work here alongside studying aviation.
Expertise: Mountain bikes, Downhill and Enduro
What do you love about bikes?: The feeling of riding and the community of cycling gives me freedom I have only found in one place.
