I can't wait to get on my e-bike and start my car-free lifestyle.

I spend a lot of my work day chained to a desk so I like going on leisurely rides to enjoy the scenery - whether it be the ocean, forests, rivers or pretty suburban streets.

When I'm not at work or on the bike, I'm at choir practice, chilling with my cat and a cuppa while watching Doctor Who, baking a tasty treat, tending to my plants or tied up in knots on my yoga mat.

This mural by Ash Firebrace and Tom Civil reminds me every commute home that our environment sustains us and so we have a responsibility to look after it. Every car taken off the road helps us do this - replacing our cars with ebikes is one of the best things we can as individuals.

This week I want to give a shout out to my workplace for having great bike facilities. Not only is there a secure cage, there's a tool station too! It's great to know I can check my tyre pressure, make repairs or fix a flat at work if I ever need to. Plus, my bike get's a nice view of the tree-filled car park.

This year I gave my bike a true test - could I really replace my car and ride to every rehearsal and performance... and still be happy about it? The answer was yes!

There were some late nights and early mornings but that just made it more special. I was a little late to a couple of morning rehearsals but only because I kept stopping to take photos of the scenery!

It was a wet start to the challenge but the weather didn't dampen my enthusiasm! Through puddles and high winds, over bridges and through traffic, my new bike got me where I needed to be with a smile on my face. I ditched my car last weekend and don't regret it for a second. Using the ebike to get around is such fun :)

To reward my trusty companion for an excellent week's service, I took it for a joy ride along the bay trail to the Altona wetlands. Can't wait for week 2!
