GT Palomar 27.5 (2017) is a hard tail mountain bike, ideal for beginner riders. Hard tail bikes have suspension in the front, but not the rear of the bike - making them more lightweight and agile. The Palomar is best suited for around town riding and bike paths, as well as light off-road riding.
GT Palomar features 27.5 inch wheels have quickly gained popularity amongst mountain bikers. The 27.5 size offers a balance of reduced rolling resistance, which characterises 29ers, and the agility and handling of smaller 26 incher wheels. Larger wheels are able to hit obstacles at a lesser angle than smaller wheel sizes, meaning reduced resistance and loss of momentum as the bike rolls over the obstacle and continues along the trail. New riders will also love the feeling of improved stability and traction, as the big wheels allow for more tyre tread in contact with the ground.
This particular model also features a lockout fork. This gives you the option to turn the suspension off and thus also ride on road without losing efficiency.
