Meet The Team

Name: Daryl Exell
Role: Mechanic
Customer Service Experience: I possess a trade background with an additional 8 plus years in the health and nutrition industry, specialising in customer service and logistics. I've worked at both our 99 Bikes Mile End and Prospect stores, now privileged to be working with Craig and the 99 Bikes team at Marion.
Riding Experience: Started riding mountain bikes seriously 16 plus years ago, which turned into riding downhill MTB (very, very badly) thanks to my brother in law. After a few injuries I started riding road bikes to recover and re-build fitness, and became hooked on the fun and fitness gains that followed.
What do you love about bikes?: I've always been fascinated by the simplicity and beauty of the bicycle, and I find riding bikes extremely fun whatever the discipline chosen. I've also been privileged to fall in love with cycling all over again through the eyes of my daughter. Seeing her big smile and utter joy with going really fast on her bicycle is always very awesome..! Riding great trails and roads with friends, as the camaraderie and trash talk that always seems to come out at the trail head or over a few post ride beverages is always extremely fun.
Expertise: Mountain, road, trail and road side repairs, helping fellow stranded riders and hops based nutritional sports drinks.
Current Bikes: Norco Threshold Cyclocross, Trek Remedy 8.
Favourite Ride: Any ride on awesome roads and trails with friends.

Name: Cooper Sayers
Role: Mechanic and Sales Consultant
Customer Service Experience: Some of the experience that I have had has included working in various bike shops as both a salesperson and road bike mechanic. I have also done a lot with servicing and bike maintenance. I have also worked at many expos and event stalls promoting sponsors and the institute which has benefited me with my communication skills and knowledge.
Riding Experience: I've been cycling for 3 years now after I was picked up by SASI Talent Search testing where 5000 kids were tested. From there I have represented South Australia and now ride for the South Australian Sports Institute Track and Road Endurance Squad. In my time I have picked up 9 time national medalist and 3 time Oceania Medalist. Hopefully 2017 brings the ultimate honor in representing Australia in the Jnr Track World Championships.
What do you love about bikes?: I love everything about bikes from the road to the track and even off road. Cycling is such a fantastic sport that anybody and everybody can enjoy. It can bring such happiness and joy to everyone who gets involved. It doesn't matter if you are serious or you just enjoy riding to the coffee shop its a great way to keep fit and see the world from a different perspective.
Expertise: Road, Track and Anatomy.
Current Bikes: 2017 Cervelo S5, Cervelo R5 and Cervelo P3
Favourite Ride: Anything in the hills, the scenery is something you could never experience in the car. You also get the thrill of going down hill after!

Name: John Martinez
Role: Sales Consultant
Customer Service Experience: Worked as a Lifeguard for 6 years specialising in customer service where I was granted the position of duty manager to eventually finding my passion at 99 Bikes.
Riding Experience: I've been riding bikes as long as i can remeber, but got into road cycling since i was 13 through triathlon where my love for bikes just grew. I still compete in triathlons now and then as well as road races, with an unhealthy obsession for strava. Also in my spare time I do ride my mountain bike every now and then.
What do you love about bikes?: I love where it can take you, just waking up in the morning and thinking 'where do I want to ride today?' The sense of adventure from exploring new roads and trails by bike is one of the best feelings and I hope that I continue doing this for a long time.
Expertise: Road and triathlon.
Current Bikes: Specialized S-Works Venge (road), Fuji Norcom Straight 1.1 (time trial), Merida Big 9 (mountain bike).
Favourite Ride: Has got to be Norton Summit easily, but loved riding in Halls Gap through the Grampians.

Name: Graham Plowright
Role: Sales Consultant
Customer Service Experience: 15 years working in the automotive industry in customer relations and sales as well as spare parts and service roles. Over the past 6 or 7 years I have worked as a cycle tour guide in Italy and during the Australian summer worked in the retail cycling industry in Sydney.
Riding Experience: 25+ years road riding and racing both nationally and internationally. Although I no longer race I still continue to travel to Europe, particularly Tuscany to ride my bike & enjoy the food & wine that Italy has to offer.
What do you love about bikes?: I do love the social aspect of cycling but mostly I enjoy the solitude when riding alone and getting lost in your own thoughts. I love nothing more than finding the hardest ride possible and testing myself to my limits still after all these years on the bike. I also love riding hard with my mates & challenging one another.
Expertise: Road cycling. I also pride myself on my knowledge of cycling history.
Current Bikes: Formigli FGR custom carbon with Dura Ace and Colnago C59 150th Anniversary. I also have an epic collection of classic 90's road bikes including Bianchi, Pinarello, Colnago, Tommasini and Look to name but a few. I'm a cycling tragic and may just have a problem.
Favourite Ride: Actually my favourite and ultimate place to ride is in the Chianti hills just north of Siena in Tuscany Italy. I am new to Adelaide so am still working on my favourite ride in these parts. The whole area is an amazing place to ride. Since arriving from Sydney in early 2017 I have been enjoying myself in the Adelaide Hills around Montacute, Norton summit & Mt Lofty.
