Features

The Merida Big Nine 3000 is a hardtail mountain bike that is absolute top quality, with high performance features that don’t break the bank. It is made with a Nano Matrix Carbon frame which has fibres bonded together with an epoxy resin and added nano particles, increasing impact resistance by up to 40% and protecting the integrity of the carbon frame. The cables, housings and brake hoses are clamped under tension to prevent rattling when the trail gets rough and all inlets are completely interchangeable to deal with Di2, hydraulic hoses, brake cable and gear cable housings etc.

The Big Nine 3000 has 29” wheels and 100mm travel suspension fork with a lockout to smooth the bumps on the trail and this is ideal for riding more efficiently on smooth surfaces as well as climbing out of the saddle. It is equipped with an 11 speed Shimano drivetrain and Shimano disc brakes for reliability regardless of the conditions and improved control. The Merida Big Nine 3000 is a versatile mountain bike which is ideal for cross-country races and high performance. With a lightweight and durable frame, lockout on the suspension fork and quality range of Shimano parts, this bike is fast, efficient and will enable you to get the most out of yourself in a competitive environment.

Features

Nano Matrix Carbon 2019: To protect the integrity of carbon frames, the fibres are bonded together with an epoxy resin with added nano particles, increasing impact resistance by up to 40%.

AWS 2019: When creating the individual carbon elements, an inflatable bladder is used to ensure there are no wrinkles inside the tube as these can add weight and create weakness. This results in a lighter, stiffer and stronger frame.

Flex-Stay 2019: The seat and chainstay profile and carbon lay-up schedule are adapted to work like a flat leaf spring, absorbing surface bumps and reducing vibrations.

X-Taper Headtube 2019: Using a tapered head tube with 1 1/8" bearings in the top and 1 1/4" or 1 1/2" in the bottom creates superb stiffness and precise, confidence inspiring steering.

Internal Cable 2019: Cables are routed through the frame, entering and exiting through smooth sockets. The bike looks neat, whilst the cables are protected from moisture and dirt.

Smart Entry 2019: Cables, housings and brake hoses are clamped under tension to prevent rattling when the trail gets rough. All inlets are completely interchangeable to deal with di2, hydraulic hoses, brake cable and gear cable housings etc.

DI2 Ready 2019: Bikes/frames with the symbol ‘di2 ready’ are prepared for the installation of di2 technology with battery mounting in the seat post or within the fork steerer.

Remote lock-out 2019: The suspension fork and/or rear shock can be locked, either directly or via a ‘remote control’ lever on the handlebar.

C-S Post Mount Disc 2019: Post mount disc brake calipers fit directly onto the seat stay for a strong and light connection whilst a chainstay post mount positions the caliper on the chainstay within the rear triangle for extra protection and better distribution of braking forces. Another benefit is that internal cable routing is also easier and neater via the chainstay.

12-148 Thru-Axle ‘Boost’ 2019: New boost standard – wider axle widths; 110 mm front and 148 mm rear, allowing a shallower spoke angle for stiffer wheels, especially beneficial in 29ers.

15-100 THRU-AXLE 2019: Selected front forks use a 100 mm wide through axle 12 or 15 mm in diameter to increase lateral stiffness. A 142 mm wide 12 mm rear axle fixed directly into the frame increases rear end stiffness whilst simplifying wheel removal and replacement.

About Merida

In September 1972, Ike Tseng (1932–2012) a brilliant engineer and visionary founded MERIDA. While visiting the USA, Ike saw a sign in a bike shop that stated refusal to repair any Taiwanese bikes, due to the unfavourable quality. As a result of this he set out to fulfil his dream of high quality bikes made in Taiwan and formed the MERIDA Industry Company Ltd.

The MERIDA name has three syllables Me-Ri-Da and it is the company’s intention to manufacture beautiful, high quality bikes that enables everyone to reach their destination enjoyably. MERIDA created a world-leading bike factory but Ike still wasn’t satisfied, so in 1988 the MERIDA brand was launched. Ike’s vision is still very much a part of MERIDA, manufacturing all kinds of bikes from children’s bikes to world-class professional road and mountain bikes for the Bahrain- MERIDA team riders. Everybody has a different journey, and everyone can benefit from a MERIDA.
