The Merida eBig Nine 400 Electric Mountain Bike is built to tackle challenging trails with some extra assistance. The Big Nine 400 is for the mountain biker that wants to rider faster and longer with less effort! The eBig Nine 400 is classified as pedal-assist, meaning the power only kicks in to assist you when you pedal.

The eBig Nine 400 frame is made from Merida's tough aluminium, with an intube Shimano E8035 battery seamlessly combining with the frame to create a cohesive e-bike unit which is nimble and responsive. The battery is paired with the reliable Shimano E7000 drive unit which has plenty of power to climb up steep hills and get you where you need to go. This really takes the tough stuff out of your ride so that you can enjoy the better aspects of mountain biking without being tired for the whole ride.

Not only do the e-bike components offer a smooth and relaxed ride, but the 29” wheels and Maxxis Ikon tyres will glide over rough terrain in as much comfort as possible on an e-mountain bike. This e-bike is high-quality from top to bottom, as the Shimano e-bike components combine with the Shimano groupset for a crisp and extremely reliable ride. The eBig Nine 400 is equipped with Shimano MT-200 Hydraulic Disc Brakes for unparalleled braking control in any condition, so that you can ride with confidence knowing that you can stop on a dime when you need to.

The Merida eBig Nine 400 Electric Mountain Bike is a versatile mountain bike for both serious and recreational riders. Each year Merida’s electric mountain bikes get better and better, and this year is no exception. The integrated battery not only looks good but keeps the battery out of the way and shows how well integrated all of the e-bike components are in what is still a reliable hardtail mountain bike which is extremely fun and exciting to ride.

Features

Prolite 66 Triple Butted Aluminum: Our proven high-end aluminium (6066) is extremely light and durable. Using triple butted wall thicknesses and hydroforming technology, we can tune the aluminium tubes to give the best possible stiffness to weight ratio.

X-Taper Headtube: Using a tapered head tube with 1 1/8" bearings in the top and 1 1/4" or 1 1/2" in the bottom creates superb stiffness and precise, confidence inspiring steering.

Smooth Welding: Sometimes called ‘double pass welding’, a second pass over the weld gives a clean organic look to the frame. At first glance you will be convinced it is carbon.

Internal Cable: Cables are routed through the frame, entering and exiting through smooth sockets. The bike looks neat, whilst the cables are protected from moisture and dirt.

Smart Entry: Cables, housings and brake hoses are clamped under tension to prevent rattling when the trail gets rough. All inlets are completely interchangeable to deal with Di2, hydraulic hoses, brake cable and gear cable housings etc.

DI2 Ready: Bikes/frames with the symbol ‘Di2 Ready’ are prepared for the installation of Di2 technology with battery mounting in the seat post or within the fork steerer.

C-S Post Mount Disc: Post mount disc brake calipers fit directly onto the seat stay for a strong and light connection whilst a chainstay post mount positions the caliper on the chainstay within the rear triangle for extra protection and better distribution of braking forces. Another benefit is that internal cable routing is also easier and neater via the chainstay.

15-100 Thru-Axle: Selected front forks use a 100 mm wide through axle 12 or 15 mm in diameter to increase lateral stiffness. A 142 mm wide 12 mm rear axle fixed directly into the frame increases rear end stiffness whilst simplifying wheel removal and replacement.

12-148 Thru-Axle ‘Boost’: New Boost standard – wider axle widths; 110 mm front and 148 mm rear, allowing a shallower spoke angle for stiffer wheels, especially beneficial in 29ers.

F-Mount: ‘F-Mount’ equipped bikes have integrated fittings for mud guards (some bikes require model specific mud guards), making fitting fast and simple.

K-Mount Drop-Out: Integrated mount on the chainstay to fit a MERIDA kick stand.

C-Mount: ‘C-Mount’ equipped bikes have the fixing points for a rear rack already integrated (some bikes require model specific rear rack), making fitting fast, simple and reliable.

Lock-Out: The suspension fork and/or rear shock can be locked, either directly or via a ‘remote control’ lever on the handlebar.

About Merida

In September 1972, Ike Tseng (1932–2012) a brilliant engineer and visionary founded MERIDA. While visiting the USA, Ike saw a sign in a bike shop that stated refusal to repair any Taiwanese bikes, due to the unfavourable quality. As a result of this he set out to fulfil his dream of high quality bikes made in Taiwan and formed the MERIDA Industry Company Ltd.

The MERIDA name has three syllables Me-Ri-Da and it is the company’s intention to manufacture beautiful, high quality bikes that enables everyone to reach their destination enjoyably. MERIDA created a world-leading bike factory but Ike still wasn’t satisfied, so in 1988 the MERIDA brand was launched. Ike’s vision is still very much a part of MERIDA, manufacturing all kinds of bikes from children’s bikes to world-class professional road and mountain bikes for the Bahrain- MERIDA team riders. Everybody has a different journey, and everyone can benefit from a MERIDA.
