The Merida Reacto Disc 5000 is a high-performance aero road bike that is built to go fast and help you get the most out of yourself on race day. This bike is best suited to road riders or triathletes looking to take their riding or racing to the next level. Merida have clearly put a lot of time and resources into developing a quality frame and all-round high performance bike that is also equipped with Shimano Ultegra hydraulic disc brakes.
The aero design minimises the effect of air resistance on the bike, maximising speed without sacrificing comfort, weight or stiffness. The proven Reacto CF2 frame has fibres bonded together with an epoxy resin and added nano particles to increase impact resistance by up to 40%. While an inflatable bladder is used in construction to ensure there are no wrinkles inside the tube as these can add weight and create weakness. This results in a lighter, stiffer and stronger frame. A tapered head tube with 1 1/8" bearings in the top and 1 1/4" or 1 1/2" in the bottom also creates excellent stiffness and precision steering. The cables are hidden internally to give it that neat and tidy look and protect the cables. It is equipped with carbon forks, which provide superb vibration damping and enhance control, the steerer and fork blades are all made of carbon.
The 22-speed Reacto Disc 5000 is equipped with a full Shimano Ultegra groupset for precise shifting and a smooth feel, helping to maintain a smoother pedal stroke through gear changes. The Shimano Ultegra hydraulic disc brakes will give you ultimate control and response in any conditions. A semi-compact crankset from FSA offers a great blend of usable climbing gears without sacrificing top end speed. The Reacto has the versatility of a road bike but is on a completely different level when it comes to riding fast and holding that pace. The design of this bike makes it an attractive option for triathletes, as it takes some inspiration from time trial bikes, while maintaining the versatility to be ridden anywhere. This bike a great option for race day and the combination of the quality Reacto CF2 frame and Shimano 105 groupset, you get reliability and performance in the same package.
The Merida Reacto Disc 5000 is an aero road bike that strikes a perfect blend of performance and price, ideal for the road cyclist or triathlete looking to take their riding to the next level. Designing an aero road bike is all about the minor details and Merida has done a great job with the little things on this bike, with nothing spared in the quest to create an efficient aero machine. With this bike Merida has shown again that an aero bike can be comfortable, without being super heavy and clunky.
Nano Matrix Carbon 2019: To protect the integrity of carbon frames, the fibres are bonded together with an epoxy resin with added nano particles, increasing impact resistance by up to 40%.
Carbon Fork 2019: Carbon forks provide superb vibration damping and precise steering. All road bikes feature a full carbon fork; the steerer and fork blades are all made of carbon.
HFS - Hydro Forming System 2019: Tubes are inserted into negative moulds and a hot emulsion of water and oil is forced through at pressure, enabling them to be formed into complex shapes.
X-Taper Headtube 2019: Using a tapered head tube with 1 1/8" bearings in the top and 1 1/4" or 1 1/2" in the bottom creates superb stiffness and precise, confidence inspiring steering.
Disc Cooler 2019: A forged aluminium component under the front and rear caliper allowing heat to dissipate through CNC-milled cooling fins. Tests show that temperatures are reduced by around 35% and cooling times are shortened, optimising the performance of the brake.
12-142 Thru-Axle 2019: Selected front forks use a 100 mm wide through axle 12 or 15 mm in diameter to increase lateral stiffness. A 142 mm wide 12 mm rear axle fixed directly into the frame increases rear end stiffness whilst simplifying wheel removal and replacement.
12-100 Thru-Axle 2019: Selected front forks use a 100 mm wide through axle 12 or 15 mm in diameter to increase lateral stiffness. A 142 mm wide 12 mm rear axle fixed directly into the frame increases rear end stiffness whilst simplifying wheel removal and replacement.
Smooth Welding 2019: Sometimes called ‘double pass welding’, a second pass over the weld gives a clean organic look to the frame. At first glance you will be convinced it is carbon.
Internal Cable 2019: Cables are routed through the frame, entering and exiting through smooth sockets. The bike looks neat, whilst the cables are protected from moisture and dirt.
Internal Clamp 2019:Designing WorldTour bikes is similar to Formula 1: apparently nondescript details can result in saving split seconds. Integrated seat-post clamping minimises turbulence at the top tube.
Di2 Ready 2019: Bikes/frames with the symbol ‘Di2 Ready’ are prepared for the installation of Di2 technology with battery mounting in the seat post or within the fork steerer.

In September 1972, Ike Tseng (1932–2012) a brilliant engineer and visionary founded MERIDA. While visiting the USA, Ike saw a sign in a bike shop that stated refusal to repair any Taiwanese bikes, due to the unfavourable quality. As a result of this he set out to fulfil his dream of high quality bikes made in Taiwan and formed the MERIDA Industry Company Ltd.
The MERIDA name has three syllables Me-Ri-Da and it is the company’s intention to manufacture beautiful, high quality bikes that enables everyone to reach their destination enjoyably. MERIDA created a world-leading bike factory but Ike still wasn’t satisfied, so in 1988 the MERIDA brand was launched. Ike’s vision is still very much a part of MERIDA, manufacturing all kinds of bikes from children’s bikes to world-class professional road and mountain bikes for the Bahrain- MERIDA team riders. Everybody has a different journey, and everyone can benefit from a MERIDA.
