The Merida Silex 300 is an alloy frame adventure road bike built to handle all surfaces. This versatile bike can be used to commute and then take you off-road on the dirt or gravel for some fun. Road bike style geometry is combined with wheels, brakes and tyres that are suitable for rough terrain. The Silex 300 comes with a lightweight alloy frame, made from Merida’s proven high-end aluminium (6066) which is extremely light and durable. Using triple butted wall thickness and hydroforming technology the aluminium tubes are tuned to give the best possible stiffness to weight ratio. A tapered head tube with 1 1/8" bearings in the top and 1 1/4" or 1 1/2" in the bottom also creates superb stiffness and precise steering. Double pass welding gives the frame a sharp, carbon-like appearance while the cables are routed internally to maintain that sleek look and keep the cables safe from dirt and moisture. The high-quality alloy frame is combined with a carbon fork to reduce weight and minimise the transfer of vibration from the road.
An 11-speed Sram drivetrain provides simple and reliable shifting, while a wide ranging cassette ensures you have enough gears to get through the tough climbs. Tektro Spyre disc brakes are equipped, so that you have control in any conditions, a noticeable improvement over rim brakes.
The Merida Silex 300 is the ideal bike to take you from the bike paths and roads to the trails and gravel without changing a thing. The frame and components on the Silex 300 are high-quality and built to withstand the different conditions you are bound to throw at it, afterall it is called an adventure bike for a reason.
Features
Prolite 66 Triple Butted Aluminium 2019: Our proven high-end aluminium (6066) is extremely light and durable. Using triple butted wall thicknesses and hydroforming technology, we can tune the aluminium tubes to give the best possible stiffness to weight ratio.
Carbon Fork 2019: Carbon forks provide superb vibration damping and precise steering. All road bikes feature a full carbon fork; the steerer and fork blades are all made of carbon.
HFS - Hydro Forming System 2019: Tubes are inserted into negative moulds and a hot emulsion of water and oil is forced through at pressure, enabling them to be formed into complex shapes.
X-Taper Headtube 2019: Using a tapered head tube with 1 1/8" bearings in the top and 1 1/4" or 1 1/2" in the bottom creates superb stiffness and precise, confidence inspiring steering.
Smooth Welding 2019: Sometimes called ‘double pass welding’, a second pass over the weld gives a clean organic look to the frame. At first glance you will be convinced it is carbon.
Internal Cable 2019: Cables are routed through the frame, entering and exiting through smooth sockets. The bike looks neat, whilst the cables are protected from moisture and dirt.
Smart Entry 2019: Cables, housings and brake hoses are clamped under tension to prevent rattling when the trail gets rough. All inlets are completely interchangeable to deal with Di2, hydraulic hoses, brake cable and gear cable housings etc.
Disc Cooler 2019: A forged aluminium component under the front and rear caliper allowing heat to dissipate through CNC-milled cooling fins. Tests show that temperatures are reduced by around 35% and cooling times are shortened, optimising the performance of the brake.
Di2 Ready 2019: Bikes/frames with the symbol ‘Di2 Ready’ are prepared for the installation of Di2 technology with battery mounting in the seat post or within the fork steerer.
12-142 Thru-Axle 2019: Selected front forks use a 100 mm wide through axle 12 or 15 mm in diameter to increase lateral stiffness. A 142 mm wide 12 mm rear axle fixed directly into the frame increases rear end stiffness whilst simplifying wheel removal and replacement.
12-100 Thru-Axle 2019: Selected front forks use a 100 mm wide through axle 12 or 15 mm in diameter to increase lateral stiffness. A 142 mm wide 12 mm rear axle fixed directly into the frame increases rear end stiffness whilst simplifying wheel removal and replacement.
F-Mount 2019: ‘F-Mount’ equipped bikes have integrated fittings for mud guards (some bikes require model specific mud guards), making fitting fast and simple.
C-Mount 2019: ‘C-Mount’ equipped bikes have the fixing points for a rear rack already integrated (some bikes require model specific rear rack), making fitting fast, simple and reliable.
