Mitchell Vervaart

Name: Mitchell Vervaart
Role: Team Leader
Experience: A life long member of the cycling industry, I have worked across a number of stores both in Melbourne and more recently in Adelaide. Additionally, I have spent a number of years running my own wholesale cycling company. I have also been competing as a road cyclist for 20 years and over the last few years have been chasing my partner around on the cyclocross bike as she travels the globe to race.
Expertise: Road Cycling and Cyclocross are my passion.
What do you love about bikes?: Bikes have so many functions and purposes. Nothing beats the bike to commute or for an early morning training session. Cycling is such a social event leading to life long friends.
Current Bikes: BMC SLR02 Two. I'm enjoying the switch to disc and Di2. Waiting on a 2021 Merida Cyclocross bike. Undecided on getting a MTB!
Favourite Ride: Any 3 hour loop in the Adelaide Hills. I have a soft spot for an effort up Greenhill Rd. I have ridden some quite breathtaking climbs in Spain, France and Switzerland but find Mount Buffalo in Victoria a great climb and descent.

Josiah Whittaker

Name: Josiah Whittaker
Role: Sales Consultant
Experience: I started back riding bikes again in 2017 after a 10 year hiatus. I went from a complete novice, unable to change a tube to now racing my road bike in A-Grade here in Rads. I joined the Modbury team at 99 Bikes when we first opened, coming from the West Lakes store originally
Expertise: Road/Race Bikes, Dual Suspension MTB, eBikes & eMTB
What do you love about bikes?: I love being able to pull off a big bunch sprint win and standing on the top step of a podium after a race. The freedom that riding a bike enables you have is unparalleled; if you ask any cyclist, there's a high chance that they can take you exploring all around the beautiful Adelaide Hills like it's their own backyard
Current Bikes: Merida Reacto 9000, Norco Fluid 1, Sprint Fixie, Custom Giant Single Speed
Favourite Ride: Pre work boost ride: Either a smash up Norton Summit across the top and then Gorge Rd up Torrens Hill, or a Cobbler Creek trail rip with the Modbury team. Riding/working with your friends is the best!

Expertise: I love my fixie the most.
What do you love about bikes?: I love the concept of moving along under your own steam, it’s such a cheap and easy way to get around.
Current Bikes: My current bike is a single speed fixed wheel. My own build.
