"WE AIM TO CONTRIBUTE TOWARDS SOMETHING BIGGER THAN OURSELVES."

Without a conscious effort to make a positive environmental impact, we would be unable to live by our purpose to enrich mind, body, earth or soul with the freedom of riding. Our wide range of environmental initiatives aims to make the world a better place because we are in it. We are always striving for continuous improvement and constantly looking for ways to achieve better outcomes for the environment. See our latest ESG report for more details.

Our Environmental Initiatives

Recycling and Waste

Recycling and Waste

We create a range of waste streams from our retail operations and warehousing. The majority is cardboard and soft plastics from our suppliers and products sold in stores. Recycling services available vary between locations and we are working with our suppliers to decrease the volume of non recyclable packaging where possible.

Cardboard & Paper

All our stores have paper and cardboard recycling that reduces future energy needs, avoids landfill and helps conserve our limited natural resources.

Soft Plastics

All stores in VIC, SA, TAS and NSW and some stores in QLD have soft plastic recycling in place. Currently there is no soft plastic recycling available to our stores in ACT, WA and parts of QLD.

Tyre & Tube Recycling

All stores in VIC, SA, WA, NSW, ACT and some stores in QLD have tyre recycling in place. VIC and WA are also able to recycle inner tubes at local facilities. This helps to reduce landfill and the rubber is re-used to create new products like athletics tracks and playgrounds or is broken back down into its usable components.

Metals

Our workshops recycle metal components in VIC, WA, SA, NSW, ACT and in some QLD locations.  This allows these products to be reused, keeping them from landfill. We are working towards having metal recycling in all workshops

Upcycle

Upcycle

Upcycling old bicycles. Through our Donate Your Old Bike Program we partner with local community groups to give old bikes new life. This makes it easy for customers to trade in old bikes, ensuring they are either donated and upcycled to those in need or responsibly recycled, a win-win for riders, the community, and the environmen

Green Team

Green Team

The 99 Green Team is a group of everyday people who are sponsored by 99 Bikes to ride to work. The team’s aim is to help relieve traffic congestion, improve the sense of community between riders and motorists, cut carbon emissions and promote a healthy lifestyle. In FY25 we sponsored 9 riders as part of the Green Team who completed 636 rides, travelling 7,245 kilometres.

Carbon

Carbon

In FY25 we measured our Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions. Over the coming years we are committed to measuring and reducing our Scope 1, 2 and 3 greenhouse gas emissions and are working towards improving our data quality and continuing to increase our usage of solar and renewable energy.  It is also our goals to use 100% renewable energy at our suits by the end of 2026
