The Merida Big Seven 500 is a mid-level performance mountain bike that can take your riding to the next level. The Big Seven 500 is equipped with the 2019 RaceLite 6061 Aluminium frame which is a lighter and more advanced frame than previous years. The frame is lighter, yet stiffer because of additional heat treatment and double-butted wall thickness. This means that you get a quality frame at an affordable price. Using a tapered head tube with 1 1/8" bearings in the top and 1 1/4" or 1 1/2" in the bottom creates superb stiffness and precise, confidence inspiring steering. While the cables are routed internally through the frame, entering and exiting through smooth sockets. The cables are protected from moisture and dirt inside and when combined with the double pass welding, the bike has a clean finish, which at first glance looks like carbon.
The Big Seven 500 has 27.5” wheels and 100mm travel suspension fork with a lockout. The fork from SR Suntour offers 100mm of travel to smooth the bumps on the trail and this is ideal for riding more efficiently on smooth surfaces as well as climbing out of the saddle. If you are riding on smoother terrain and want to conserve some energy, the fork lock out feature can be accessed simply from the top of the fork leg. It is also equipped with Shimano disc brakes for reliability regardless of the conditions and improved control.
The Merida Big Seven 500 is a versatile mountain bike at the start of the hardtail mountain bike performance section and will help you take that next step with your riding. The Merida Big Seven 500’s lightweight and durable frame, lockout on the suspension fork and quality range of Shimano parts, make this an excellent bike for those that want to enjoy riding, but are ready to get serious about riding.
Features
Racelite 61 aluminium 2019: We use a minimum of 6061 aluminium. The pay back is that it’s possible to make lighter and more advanced frames. We use an additional heat treatment and double-butted wall thicknesses to produce light and stiff frames.
Tfs - Techno Forming System 2019: Technoforming is a mechanical forming process, shaping the tubes by using negative moulds, at times combined with a metal internal core.
F-mount 2019: ‘F-mount’ equipped bikes have integrated fittings for mud guards (some bikes require model specific mud guards), making fitting fast and simple.
K-mount drop-out 2019: Integrated mount on the chainstay to fit a Merida kick stand.
C-mount 2019: ‘C-mount’ equipped bikes have the fixing points for a rear rack already integrated (some bikes require model specific rear rack), making fitting fast, simple and reliable.
Lock-out 2019: The suspension fork and/or rear shock can be locked, either directly or via a ‘remote control’ lever on the handlebar.
X-taper headtube 2019: Using a tapered head tube with 1 1/8" bearings in the top and 1 1/4" or 1 1/2" in the bottom creates superb stiffness and precise, confidence inspiring steering.
Internal cable 2019: Cables are routed through the frame, entering and exiting through smooth sockets. The bike looks neat, whilst the cables are protected from moisture and dirt.
Down tube exit 2019: Ensures that internally routed cables and wires can move freely without causing any trouble whilst remaining easily accessible for servicing.
C-S post mount disc 2019: Post mount disc brake callipers fit directly onto the seat stay for a strong and light connection whilst a chainstay post mount positions the calliper on the chain stay within the rear triangle for extra protection and better distribution of braking forces. Another benefit is that internal cable routing is also easier and neater via the chainstay.
Smooth welding 2019: Sometimes called ‘double pass welding’, a second pass over the weld gives a clean organic look to the frame. At first glance you will be convinced it is carbon.
Down tube exit 2019: Ensures that internally routed cables and wires can move freely without causing any trouble whilst remaining easily accessible for servicing.
