Types of Bike Locks
Combination Bike Locks, Key Bike Locks, Chain Locks, Cable Locks, Folding Bike Locks and U Locks (or D Locks) all prevent bicycle theft. The security you require will dictate the type of lock you need to purchase.
U locks are great for anti theft as they feature a solid metal arm that is in the shape of U and is ideal for high risk areas. Also known as D Locks the U Lock is more resistant to cutting with bolt cutters, giving you peace of mind that your bike is safe. Cable Locks enable you to wrap through the frame and wheels, which is particularly important for bikes with quick release wheels. Cable gauges of over 14mm will provide greater security as they cannot be gripped by standard bolt cutters. Any locks with cables thinner than this should be used in very low risk situations only.
