99 Bikes customers donated almost 500 bikes as part of our Upcycle initiative. Upcycle gives Australian riders the chance to donate their pre-loved bike to our charity partner, Bikes 4 Life, and at the same time receive a discount on a new bike.

In some communities a bicycle is not only a means of transport to places of employment and education, but can also provide people with access to remote sources of food, water, medicine, and shelter.

The major beneficiary of Upcycle is the Mirror Of Hope charity in Nairobi, Kenya. Mirror Of Hope assists impoverished residents of Kibera, one of Africa’s largest slums, where people less than $1USD p/er day. 99 Bikes will be assisting Mirror Of Hope to establish a social enterprise bike shop, which will in turn help fund their operations. We expect this will help Mirror Of Hope to raise over $10,000 USD to continue offering Kibera residents education and social support.

2017 was our second Upcycle in partnership with Bikes 4 Life. Upcycle initiatives have now collected over 800 bikes for various projects around the world. We wish to thank our customers for their generosity.
