About Me

I am 34 years old, a father, graphic designer and surf photographer. I live on the Gold Coast and work as a graphic designer in the city.

I am excited to swap my car for 99 days and ride an e-bike to work, it’s a small change that can help the environment and improve my health, so I want to complete this challenge to inspire others to ride to work. Please follow along on my strava to see how it all goes.

Week Four

Monday, 17 May 2021

Week 4 of Riding to work has been great, mainly because of the fantastic weather we have been having on the Gold Coast. Having cycled enough days now to accurately time my run to work, exactly 30min or 26 min if I get all the traffic lights and pedestrian crossing green lights. The Cube ebike really makes is easy to get to work. I have found I have only half refilled my car once this month as I only use it on weekends now, so not only have I reduced my emissions footprint I have saved some money too. Woohoo!

Blog: Not Breaking A Sweat

Monday, 19 April 2021

I am starting to get used to the Cube Nature one 400 e-bike, I love the front suspension for a bumpy section of foot paths and the quick acceleration with the electric motor. This week it was fantastic to arrive to work having not really broken a sweat so I didn’t have to shower at work. If you take it easy on the ride to work and don’t push it you can almost have a sweat free ride. The e-bikes just love eating up the Km's.

Week Two

Saturday, 17 April 2021

A much better start to week two with awesome autumn weather on the Gold Coast. Clear Skys and cool temps around 22 degrees in the morning.

Week One

Wednesday, 7 April 2021

What a start to the 99 Bikes ride to work challenge - this is Day 1 of 99 where I ride to work on an ebike. The cube nature one is working great, having never ridden an ebike, it’s the funnest weirdest sensation when the electric motor kicks in! It has four different acceleration modes being Eco, Tour, Sport and Turbo, I pretty much left it in Turbo the whole time. Each mode also gives an estimation range eco can give me 100+ km range and Turbo can give me 40km+. So technically I only have to charge once per week because my commute to work is 10km.

The rains are coming down but I was so keen to ride to work I just went. Multiple footpaths were flooded but I managed to get around them over bridges on the road. Can’t wait to keep on riding and for the sunshine to come back.
