Meet The Team
Name: Jake Treloar
Role: Sales Consultant
Customer Service Experience: I've worked various retail and customer service jobs in different industries and enjoy the challenge of finding customers their perfect product.
Riding Experience: I've ridden BMX since I was a kid and have gotten into mountain biking in the past few years. I now find myself chasing that feeling you get after a long climb on a MTB but I love sending it downhill even more, and have always loved the freedom and creativity you have when riding BMX.
Expertise: I've been riding BMX my whole life, so I know my way around a 20" I guess.
What do you love about bikes?: That freedom you get when it's just you and your bike and you're trying a new line or a new feature or a new trick, and you're using everything you've learnt to push your boundaries. The sense of achievement you get when you nail something you've been working on is seriously amazing.
Current Bikes: Trek Fuel Ex 8 29er, Stolen Cheater v6, Trek Fx 2 hybrid.
Favourite Ride: Pretty much anything in the Adelaide Hills, but especially the downhill runs at Fox Creek MTB Park.
Name: Michael Hatherley

Experience: Graduating high school in 2014, I pursued a career in basketball as a training partner for Melbourne United during the 2014/15 season. Since then I have been coaching basketball and recently completed a Masters in Social Work. After entering into the cycling world over the last two years I have been with 99 Bikes Airport West since January 2019.
Expertise: Cyclocross and Hardtail MTB.
What do you love about bikes?: The connection it provides to the world around us.
Current Bikes: 16 Norco Threshold and 19 Merida Big Nine.
Favourite Ride: Lysterfield Park.
Name: Brad Tobin

What do you love about bikes?: The places a bike can take you.

Favourite Ride: Dark Crystal in Whistler.
Name: Mitch Stent
Experience: I have always loved servicing and understanding my own bikes, and have recently decided to take the leap and explore this work professionally. My background is in International Studies and Youth Development, working as a youth facilitator with a number of non-profits and I'm ecstatic to be balancing that work with all things bikes. Human connection makes me tick, so I love connecting with customers to meet their bike needs and send them on their way feeling valued and understood.
Expertise: Adventure cycling and bike touring.
What do you love about bikes?: Bikes have always been a symbol of freedom for me. Growing up in Cairns, I used to ride my bike along a mountain creek to school and be so immersed in the sights, sounds and smells that I would arrive and forget what I was going there for! These days, aside from commuting around the city, my riding has evolved into longer adventure rides, bikepacking (lightweight camping with all gear mounted on the bike) into the forests around Melbourne for a break from the city rush. Bikes are elegant, efficient, accessible, cost nothing to run but your own energy... what's not to love!
Current Bikes: 2018 Kona Rove St and a charming old Repco racer.
Favourite Ride: Lilydale-Warburton Rail Trail & Acheron Way - give me those scenic gravel roads!
Name: Daniel Line
Experience: I’m just starting out with 99 bikes and am super excited about where it will take me, eager to learn and get people out riding. I grew up in Western Australia riding a Repco Hotfoot, I’ve worked in many different areas, I started out as a Baker, an Arborist, moved onto hospitality and worked as a Tattoo Artist in New Zealand for about ten years, I made the move back to Melbourne in 2014 and have been here building bikes since.
Expertise: Road bikes, commuters, fixed gear and track, BMX, vintage restorations. Currently getting hyped about downhill and Mtb riding.
What do you love about bikes?: I love the exhilaration of going fast, I love getting air, I love the relaxation of just going for a cruise, I love that it brings people together. I love good design, simple and effective parts, I love the feeling when something works well and the satisfaction of making something work even better. I could go on but I think you get the idea.
Current Bikes: BMX; Schwinn Predator freeform 87, 88 repco Hotfoot (for nostalgia), Custom total Voltron. Road; 1950’s Phillips roadster, 80’s kypo handbuilt custom, 40’s unknown trackbike, 70’s Dellamarta Italian frame with tricolor group, Felt sr91, Very custom Raleigh twenty. Fun; 1970’s long frame Malvern star drag star, plus a few other stragglers and a mountain of projects and parts :)
Favourite Ride: Every time I get on a bike feels like my favourite ride, I love riding bowls and trails. At the moment I’m enjoying exploring the Darebin Creek Trail with my 10 month old daughter, Ella as she’s just old enough now to go in a bike seat.
